Current Drifters line-up celebrates past band-members and modern hits
65 vocalists and 58 years and after they first began The Drifters will perform at Worthing Pavilion Theatre on July 28 to coincide with the recent release of their greatest hits album Up on the Roof.
Since 1953 the group has included icons such as Clyde McPhatter, Ben E. King, Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore. Throughout the years the group have always been connected with the Treadwell family, who originally founded and still own the group today.
The current band members are Michael Williams, Damion Charles, Ryan King and Carlton Powell who will pay homage to some of the prominent former members of the line-up at the concert in Worthing.
The Drifters will highlight the numerous musical reinventions which have shaped the group through the years from the early Doo Wop classics such as Fools Fall In Love and Let The Boogie Woogie Roll to early rock‘n’roll and pop hits such as Sand in My Shoes, More Than A Number, Come on Over to My Place, Up on the Roof, Under the Boardwalk, Kissin’ in the Back Row and Save the Last Dance for Me. The show also features tracks from the disco era as well as latest releases such as Do You Dream of Me.
