The Festive Food & Drink Fayre comes hot on the heels of The South of England Society’s last three shows.

Home-grown attractions are more popular than ever before and Christmas promises to be no exception.  Visitors to this year’s Show on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 December are certain of a warm welcome and a merry selection of goodies to tempt them. Packed with scrumptious seasonal foodie treats and individual gifts, the show reflects the spirit of Christmas and gets everyone in the mood for giving.

One of the Society’s key objectives is to promote locally-produced British produce, which is well represented at the Show.  Trade stands will be packed with a myriad of tasty treats from locally-farmed and produced meat, salmon cheeses, fruit juices, preserves & pickles to Champagne chocolates & liquorice and artisan cakes & breads fresh from the bakery.

Potash Farm made its debut appearance at the 2009 Show with a wonderful selection of products based on its primary crop, the cobnut. Potash Farm is situated at St Mary's Platt, nr Sevenoaks, Kent and is a unique business, being the only one of its kind in the UK.  Star of last year’s show was the delicious Kentish Cobnut Fudge, which was a new introduction for Christmas.  The cobnuts were joined by organic walnuts & chestnuts and a host of accessories and gifts designed to cook, carry and grow these lovely, naturally nutritious nuts.

The plantation extends to about six acres and is likely to have been planted around 1900. It has been beautifully restored with the aim of preserving this fine example of cobnut growing in a village that derives its name from cobnut production. Plantation owner, Alexander Hunt explains “The plantation is today part of the village's heritage and having lived here all my life I feel this is part of the village and me".

And, for those who like a festive tipple, there will be the chance to sample and buy award-winning British wines, real ales, Champagne, organic lager, mead, cider and mulled wine, while shoppers looking for inspiration will find individual gifts that are hard to find on the high street.

Ample free parking makes for shopper’s paradise in a relaxed rural environment.

Admission prices are £2.50 for adults and £2.00 for students & senior citizens. Society members and children under 16 years are free. More details from www.festivefayre.co.uk or telephone 01444 892700
